'Kaadhal Kondaen' Review

Cast - Dhanush, Sonia Agarwal, Naagesh
Dir - Selvaraaghavan
Music - Yuvan Shankar Raaja

Today is pongal holiday [called as Sankaranthi in Hyderabad]. I had the opportunity to see the movie I was intended to see for a long time now. It's Kaadhal Kondaen. I know there is a lot of praise about this guy Dhanush in the industry, though he is a lean looking, and not at all smart looking guy as per the general definition of beauty. This is the first movie I have seen by Dhanush. I am very impressed with this ollipitchaan!

Positives:
+ Great performances from the key cast, Dhanush, and sonia agarwal. I can not forget Dhanush's last sorrow, pleading look in the climax.
+ It's great to see the new faces of the industry, like Selvaraagavan, doing experiments, and not afraid of taking challenging subjects.
+ A decent pshycho story. Dhanush's flash back is also very moving.
+ Yuvan did a very decent job with 'Nenjodu Kalandhidu' song. It's very tough to see the songs which stays with us a while even after the movie is over, now a days. Hats off to yuvan for that.

Negatives:
- Well, it's Yuvan's background score. This is a big minus point for a movie like this, because music should almost play a role as another character. The score is more like cut and paste. I think Yuvan never carefully followed his father's, Maestro Ilayaraja, re-recording. I hope Ilayaraja would have adviced him to concentrate in rerecording, after seeing this work.
- Another big minus is watching the movie in Sun TV! Time and again we wonder whether we are watching a movie or advertising mela. They are showing a two and half hour film in four and half hour time frame. Advertisement ratio is 1:1 with the movie!! I am planning to avoid watching movies in Sun TV from now on. I would prefer pirated VCDs instead [just for the argument sake].
- Characerization, except dhanush, sonia agarwal, and naagesh, all other character never stay with us.
- The story is also weakly told. Screen play bores us now and then.

Overall, it's a good movie to watch, though there are negatives here and there, [u can't help it anyway its indian movie, and it is supposed to follow a formula, like songs here and there, etc.]
