Tamil Film Music History - BBC Radio Tamil Osai

I know many of u reading this would be avid tamil film music fans. But how much we know about its history?

I realised that it is not just about MSV, Ilayaraja, and ARR, when I came across the radio programme archives from BBC Tamil Osai.

And let me tell u, I could not stop listening to it until its complete. Sofar it has 26 parts and runs for 4.5 hours solid. It has, u guessed it, lots of great music from yester years. It would be another oliyum oliyum if it is just that, it has interviews from film music greats MSV, ilayaraja, etc. The technical details which are very interesting and I sure missed sofar, though I might have heard the songs many times.

Ilayaraja and ARR episodes are yet to come. I am eagerly awaiting. But that is not the excuse to miss the history about the earlier episodes.

In short, I had a fun time and i really think u will too. [thanks to BSNL broadband which we finally got]

Here is the link for that particular programme archive from BBC.

if u face problems with fonts reading tamil sites, change ur character encoding of the browser to Unicode (UTF-8).

Sadat,

This programme is into my favorite music director of all time, of course, Ilayaraja. I am looking forward to the episodes. Sampath kumar is doing great job.

Thanks for ur comment. [the first comment I got other than from my friends. hey, someone indeed read it. I would write it more responsibly.]
